A new patent was issued to APIRx Pharmaceutical for a chewing gum composition comprising cannabinoids or derivatives and nicotine. The gum is formulated to provide rapid and controlled release of cannabinoids and nicotine during chewing.

APIRx is proud to announce a new patent P6069489PCT/EP from the WPTO entitled “Cosmetic and topical compositions comprising Cannabigerol “. It covers products for the dermatological and cosmetic industries, based on Cannabigerol (CBG), a unique, ‘stem cell” cannabinoid with unsurpassed antibacterial, antifungal, anti inflammatory and tumoricidal properties. APIRx has formulated a number of revolutionary products based on this intellectual property.

In a recent study out of Belgium, research reports that cannabinoid-infused mouthwash is just as effective at killing plaque-related oral bacteria as chlorhexidine, an active ingredient in many prescription mouthwashes. The cannabinoid mouthwash was also more effective at killing bacteria than two popular over-the-counter products.

Authors said the efficacy of the mouthwashes, which separately contained CBD and CBG, “demonstrate the potential of cannabinoids in developing efficient and safer mouthwash products and next generation oral care products.”

“Most of the reported studies show chlorhexidine containing mouthwash as the most effective mouthwash, however tooth staining is an unacceptable side effect of chlorhexidine.”

“In vitro results demonstrate the potential of cannabinoids in developing efficient and safer mouthwash products and next generation oral care products without any fluorides or alcohol.”

The above mentioned study has been published in peer-reviewed Journal of Cannabis Research.

With Menthol (and) Menthyl Lactate Low Irritant and Long-Lasting Cooling AgentThe menthol group is binding to the TRPM8 receptor (transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily M member 8). The binding of the menthol group to TRPM8 opens the channel pore and leads to Ca2+ influx through TRPM8. The Ca2+ influx causes membrane depolarization. When the threshold level is reached an action potential is generated, which is then propagated along the axon to the synapse. When the action potential reaches the synapse the neuron releases neurotransmitters. These transmitters initiate the cascade of cooling sensation when they reach the CNS (Central Nervous System).
